Nine years and seven teams later and Dominic Moore is a Toronto Maple Leaf again. The 36 year-old forward formerly played for the Leafs from 2007-2009 and is back with the team after signing a one year, $1 million deal with the team on July 1st.

So, why the return? What is it about Toronto that lured the veteran forward back? Well firstly, he’s a hometown signing. The native of Thornhill, Ontario is looking forward to playing in front of family and friends once again. Speaking on-air with the hosts at Sportsnet 590 The Fan in Toronto, Moore describes his unique situation saying, “For me personally, growing up rooting for the Leafs and Doug Gilmour and watching those special playoff runs, I think joining the blue and white and joining those special players is a dream come true.”

But more importantly, Moore describes the difference in the organization he left versus the one he’s joining now. Particularly, he explains how the shift in management and culture helped lure him back home, “Management has made Toronto an exciting place to play. It’s night and day difference in the organization,” said the Leafs forward.

Indeed, things have changed in Toronto. The Leafs’ leading scorers when Moore was last with the team were 34 year-old Jason Blake and perennial disappointment Alex Ponikarovsky. Last season? An 18 year-old Auston Matthews and powerhouse forward James Van Riemsdyk. Oh, how things have changed.
