It was a good day for defenseman Calvin de Haan on Tuesday when the blue liner finally participated in his first full Chicago Blackhawks practice of training camp.

However, the veteran might have thrown some bad luck into his recovery with the latest comments he made on Twitter on Thursday.

De Haan underwent shoulder surgery in late May, shortly after the Carolina Hurricanes’ season ended with a loss in the Eastern Conference finals and about a month before the Hawks acquired him and Aleksi Saarela for Gustav Forsling and Anton Forsberg.

One Canes fan asked on social media the following question to the Eastern team: since we are hoarding defensemen this season, can we get De Haan back please?

He tagged the player and even added some puppy eyes to the mix.

Well, De Haan was made aware of his demand and took the opportunity to take a shot at his former shot.

He bluntly replied: I’ll pass.

Ouch.

The 27-year-old notched one goal and 14 points in 74 games with the Hurricanes last campaign and is expected to slot into a top-four role with the Blackhawks in 2019-20.

He might want to be careful so that bad karma doesn’t come and bite him in the ass…
