Dale Weise made his return to the Montreal Canadiens after he was traded to his former club by the Philadelphia Flyers. We all knew his time in Philly was over and a move was imminent: it had been revealed that Flyers management had informed the veteran forward that he should stay home and wait to be traded.

He ended up in Montreal and made his debut, playing three contests with the Habs in which he failed to record a point.

However, on Tuesday, it was announced that Weise's time in Montreal was already over: the Canadiens have just assigned him to Laval, to join the Rocket in the American Hockey League. It is all taken place because forward Paul Byron has been given medical clearance to play and has been activated off the injured reserve list.

Byron was injured in the Habs' 4-3 overtime win over the Edmonton Oilers in early February. He's missed six games.

While this could be yet another blow to Weise, Canadiens insider Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports that he believes Weise's stint in the AHL will only last a couple of days and that he should be reinserted in the Habs' lineup once the trade deadline has gone. This could mean a few changes will be made to the Canadiens' roster, allowing Weise to return to action.

In other news, the Canadiens also announced that Philip Danault would miss tonight's game seeing that his wife has given birth. Here is a look at tonight's projected lineup for Montreal as the Habs face the Columbus Blue Jackets:

Drouin - Domi - Armia

Tatar - Thompson - Gallagher
Byron (on IR)/ Lekhonen - Kotkaniemi - Shaw
Hudon - Peca - Weise

Mete - Weber
Reilly - Benn
Kulak - Folin
