Darnell Nurse responds to late game cheap shot from Corey Perry.

Everyone's attention may be on trade deadline day right now, but there are quite a few fans in Edmonton still steaming over a cheap shot that was delivered on Saturday night. 

During the Saturday night match up between the Edmonton Oilers and the Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse was the victim of what looked like a rather dirty cheap shot from infamous Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry, arguably one of the most universally reviled men in the league. The cheap shot occurred in the dying moments of the game and to make matters worse it came when Nurse himself was completely vulnerable and unable to defend himself. 

Nurse has just fallen to his knees during a battle for the puck alongside the end boards when Perry delivered an ugly looking forearm shiver to the head and face of Nurse who unsurprisingly was knocked down to the ice by the blow. To his credit the notoriously tough Nurse bounced right back up and immediately went after Perry who showed his true colors, a giant yellow streak running down his back, by preemptively turtling away from the payback that he knew he had earned and that he knew was coming back his way. 

Many were quick to call for the rather blatant head shot to be review by the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety, however the NHL never even so much as took a glance at the illegal blow. This of course only served to set fans off in Edmonton even more as they had just witnessed their star player eat a 2 game suspension for what many felt was far less egregious and far less deliberate infraction from Oilers captain Connor McDavid.

With all that in mind you would think that the Oilers players themselves would be furious about the cheap shot from Perry, and I won't be surprised if Perry eventually has to answer for his cheap shot, but Darnell Nurse doesn't seem to phase about it all. Nurse was asked about the cheap shot earlier today and he practically brushed it off.

"This game happens fast. It was high and a little dirty. I’m sure I’ve done something along those lines before, so it’s hard for me to point a finger now."

Still I can't wait till these two meet up once again.
