It was not too long ago that Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi was suspended for an act that looked nearly identical to this one, so this suspension comes as little surprise.

While Max Domi only received a single game for his actions, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has announced they have suspended Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse under rule 46.2 and he will sit for the next three games.

Nurse went after San Jose Shark Roman Polak after he felt Polak had delivered a dirty hit to teammate Matt Hendricks, and did some pretty serious damage to Polak's face as a result. While Nurse has certainly received a ton of criticism for this move, make no doubt about it, the young defenseman sent a clear message to the NHL that the Oilers are not to trifled with when Nurse is around.
