If you're a San Jose Sharks fan and you were hoping for some miraculous news or a miraculous turn around for veteran forward Joe Pavelski then you may want to look away right now, although this should be considered good news for now.

As all of our readers should know the San Jose Sharks are currently facing off against the Colorado Avalanche in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the two sides are currently all tied up at two games a piece and are set to clash for an all important Game 5 on Saturday night. The Sharks however have been down one of their core players in this series with Pavelski remaining out following a horrific looking injury he suffered in the seventh and final game of San Jose's first round series against the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

On Saturday San Jose Sharks head coach Peter Deboer was asked about the status of Pavelski following the Sharks morning skate and prior to them taking to the ice for Game 5 and he actually did have a small update to share. Pavelski has not played in this series following the nasty head injury he suffered but according to DeBoer he has not resumed skating in practice and is attempting to work his way back into the line up for the Sharks.

In fact Curtis Pashelka of the Bay Area News Group is reporting today that he personally spotted Pavelski taking practice with some of the black aces that San Jose has called up to their roster, an indication that he is indeed trying to get back into game shape for this series.

We have no time table for a potential return regarding Pavelski however TSN National Hockey League insider Pierre LeBrun was able to get a little more out of DeBoer during the media availability today. According to DeBoer it seems like Pavelski has been skating "regularly" with his teammates since the injury so this is not the first time that he is back out onto the ice. DeBoer also indicated that his player was making progress in his recovery but only stated as much before adding that he would not be ready to go for Game 5.
