After the heartbreaking loss at the hands of the St. Louis Blues for the Stanley Cup on Wednesday night, Jake DeBrusk sat with his face buried in his hands still in full uniform with his skates on.

He was devastated.

Or was he also finally feeling the horrible symptoms of the lingering injury he suffered in the first round of the postseason against the Toronto Maple Leafs?

We ask because it was revealed on Friday that DeBrusk battled through an injury he suffered in Round 1 and we all know he was hit to the head by Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri, who was suspended for the illegal check for the remainder of the series.

Pundits and insiders were quite annoyed to hear that the Bruins might have allowed DeBrusk to play concussed seeing that their former player Rick Nash was forced to retire back in January because of concussions - the last one he suffered as a member of the Bruins.

If Bruins GM Don Sweeney commits to players like DeBrusk, Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo, etc. as pieces to build around, he needs to be sure they are well taken care and have the right support when it comes to serious injuries, like concussions.

In 24 games this postseason with Boston, DeBrusk tallied four goals and 11 points. While he didn’t say a lot about the injury, we hope he gets the needed resting time this summer to be back full strength next season.
