It should have never led to this...

The Boston Bruins might have moved on to the second round of the postseason by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs in seven games, the journey has been a tough one for winger Jake DeBrusk.

Caught in a feud and the ensuing controversy with Leafs forward Nazem Kadri, who suspended for the rest of the series after cross-checking Kadri in Game 2, DeBrusk has been living in a hellish situation ever since he laid a hit earlier in that same intense game on Kadri with seeming knee-on-knee contact leading to a brief injury scare. Kadri managed to stay in the game, this hit was also another reason that DeBrusk has drawn some hostility from Leafs fans.

On Thursday, ahead of the first contest of the second round series against the Columbus Blue Jackets, DeBrusk revealed on Toucher and Rich that he and his family have received countless death threats from Leafs fans ever since the second game of the series against the Maple Leafs.

The winger is hoping that now that the series is over, things will calm themselves down and he will be able to fully focus on the playoffs. While the young player and his family considered reporting the threats to the police, DeBrusk revealed that it came to the realization that they were just too many to report...

That's just sad, folks.

Hockey is a sport, and as exciting as it is and as passionate as fans are, it should never lead to this!

Get your s**t together, fans!
