It is never too late for an unrestricted free agent to want to get back on the ice.

That’s what’s happening with veteran defenseman Marc Methot, who keeps working at his recovery in order to be back on track from a devastating knee injury that required surgery ten months ago.

According to the Ottawa Sun, the 34-year-old blue liner is training outside the rink of the Canadian capital and is seeking a return to the NHL. He is expected to start skating in the next couple of weeks and could become an intriguing option for some teams out there.

Methot only took part in nine games in the last season, his second at the Dallas Stars. The former Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman played in 624 career games, recording 123 points, including 22 goals.

Methot is now willing to consider retirement at the moment. If he can prove he is back to full strength, he could investigate with teams looking for a veteran presence on the blue line.
