The Vancouver Canucks are set to welcome back one veteran defenseman, and as a result another has been placed on waivers.

According to a report from Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman the Canucks have placed Yannick Weber on waivers Friday in order to make room for the return of the injured Dan Hamhuis. This puts the Canucks in an interesting position with the trade deadline looming near.

Hamhuis has been one of the veteran UFA's rumored to be available in a trade, and with Vancouver looking to move towards getting younger that move would make a lot of sense. Furthermore Friedman believes Weber will not clear waivers, with teams that need help on the power-play likely to be the ones most likely to be interested.
