Defenseman snaps and goes off on reporter, then hints at possible retirement.

This scene was very reminiscent of something we used to see regularly when John Tortorella was head coach of the New York Rangers.

In what may have been his final day as a New York Ranger, defenseman Dan Boyle absolutely lost it on New York Post reporter Larry Brooks, and chased him from the media scrum with a profanity-laden verbal tirade. Brooks was often the target of Tortorella's vitriol as well, but unlike in his exchnages with Tortorella Brooks chose not to retaliate this time around.

The whole scene was made even more bizarre by the fact that Boyle would later admit he's strongly considered retirement at the end of this season. In fact according to Rangers reporter Andrew Gross, Boyle is leaning towards retirement due to family concerns.

From Gross:

Defenseman Dan Boyle again indicated he was leaning toward retirement because of family concerns.

If it was his last day as a Ranger, he went out with a bang.

And for those of you who are interested, here's a classic clash between Brooks and Tortorella.
