If this information is good it would go a long way to explaining why Calgary Flames forward Dennis Wideman was given the full 20 game suspension on Wednesday.

According to Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman Wideman may have presented his testimony in a way that was unfavourable to himself in order to spare other members of his organization.

Believe Wideman also took Calgary trainers off the hook in hearing, saying he wanted to stay in the game and did not tell anyone he was "woozy."

If fans recall Wideman did something similir when being interviewed on camera after the game, refusing to acknowledge any kind of head injury and instead pointed to his "should and neck" repeatedly. You can easily imagine how refusing to acknowledge he was dazed from the hit he himself received would make it impossible to justify his actions.

Wideman and the NHLPA are now appealing the decision.
