Ryan Spooner knows that if he is to be a solid center the Bruins can lean on, then his game has to be on point. All aspects of it, that is.

“I wasn’t great on my face-offs [against Detroit],” explained Spooner, where he went 4-for-16 on Wednesday night. Last season, he finished with a lackluster 42.8 percent success rate on faceoffs.

“When you start with the puck then the game is so much easier,” said B’s assistant coach Bruce Cassidy.

Dominic Moore is lending his services to Ryan Spooner, giving him pointers and techniques he’s amassed over the many years of experience. More importantly, Moore is one of the trusted veterans that was used to win faceoffs in crucial moments in the game.

“There are a lot of little things in the game, faceoffs being one of them, that you learn through experience, and you want to try to pass it along to help make the team better,” said Moore.
