We are inching closer to the NHL preseason and, as such, teams are looking to complete their rosters. Unwilling to take a large cap hit, many organizations have been eyeing former NHLers to fill-in potentially vacant positions. It's a valiant risk that may prove to be fruitful without having any lasting consequences, in as much as the tendency has been to offer these types of players professional tryouts prior to offering them contracts.

Earlier today, we had reported that Ryan White was amongst the players being offered a PTO.

Now, it appears that former NHLer and present KHLer David Booth, may have found an organization willing to give him another chance :

Booth played 502 games in the NHL, a stint during which he amassed a grand total of 231 points and 206 PIM. Most importantly, during the 2008-2009 season with the Florida Panthers, the 32 year-old manage to hit the 60-point mark in only 72 games. After stretches with the Vancouver Canucks.

His career started dwindling when he left the Floridian team, but this opportunity with the Detroit Red Wings could be exactly what he needs considering he is actually native from Detroit, Michigan. If Booth were to obtain the tryout and a subsequent, he could help in the organization's rebuilding process by bringing experience, robustness and, if he returns to his former glory, a slick pair of mitts.
