Brian Elliot was also solid last night.

The Detroit Red Wings can't seem to be able to score lately.

Their problems continued last night, when they lost to the St-Louis Blues 2-1. The Wings fired 30 shots in Brian Elliott's direction, but the Blues' goaltender was solid last night and gave his team every opportunity to win the game, which they did.

Head coach Jeff Blashill was happy with his team's effort and his players' willingness to go to the front of the net:

"I think it was we couldn't score. I thought we had chances. I think we started right off the hop and had some real good chances the first couple shifts. I thought the first 10 minutes we created a lot. They got a little bit back in the game, but overall I thought we created enough chances to score more than one goal."

Unfortunately for the Wings, it wasn't enough for the two points. It seems like Detroit is literally inches away from victory, the Wings' players can't seem to shake their bad luck. The best example is when Pavel Datsyuk did everything right, controlling his own rebound and going around Blues' goaltender, but he missed the net with a shot that went on the opposite post and out.
