The New Jersey Devils caught everyone’s attention on Friday night when they pulled star forward Taylor Hall out of their lineup minutes before puck drop against the Avalanche in Colorado.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news that the Devils have decided to remove Hall from their lineup for precautionary reasons. He however took part in the warmup prior to the game.

As you know, Hall has been involved in trade rumours for weeks now. It is looking more and more likely that the pending unrestricted free agent will be dealt by the Devils ahead of the trade deadline and it seems like a frontrunner might already have emerged.

While we cannot be sure of what Devils general manager Ray Shero will be asking for to acquire Hall, it seems like one team is ready to pay up to get the top player.

Last week, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reported that the Avalanche have already reached out to the Devils to discuss the possibility of acquiring Hall and that they now know the asking price.

While the Devils won’t comment on what’s taking place, a Devils spokesperson has mentioned that the team has nothing to report on an imminent trade.

However, many believe the Devils might be looking to get a deal done before the Holiday Trade Freeze, which kicks off on Dec. 19.

Stay tuned!
