There's no doubt that fans in Toronto have mixed emotions when it comes to Dion Phaneuf, there is a contingent of the fan base who appreciates the efforts he made during his tenure as Leafs captain, and there's another contingent that could not have been happier when he was traded and lean more towards "good riddance." In both cases, good or bad, the emotional connection between Dion Phaneuf and the city of Toronto is undeniable.

That connection was readily apparent on Saturday when Phaneuf, now a member of the rival Ottawa Senators, made his return to Toronto for the first time since being traded, and the fans gave Phaneuf a warm reception.
