Dion Phaneuf takes out a Red Wing with a huge shot from the blue line.

This certainly wasn't the impact he wanted to make, but newly acquired defenseman Dion Phaneuf certainly made a big impact on Wednesday night.

Phaneuf fired a rocket of a shot from the blue line during the opening minutes of the third period between the Ottawa Senators and the Detroit Red Wings, and took out Detroit's Danny Dekeyser in the process.

Dekeyser immediately dropped to the ice after taking a puck to what looked like the side of his knee, and he was in obvious pain and had to be helped off the ice by teammates. Dekeyser would return to the game for a single shift before heading back to the locker room.
