Possible long term injury could force Kings to be very active at deadline.

The Kings will once again be looking to make a deep run in the playoffs and so typically that makes a team be a buyer come trade deadline day. Looking to add a few pieces that can help during the post season.

Now that Marian Gaborik has been placed on IR with a knee injury, it might force the Kings to be even more active. Word has it that the injury might even keep him out until the playoffs. The only good thing about that is the Kings are in a pretty good spot to get into the playoffs and Gaborik will be rested. However, it isn't easy to replace someone like Gaborik and having your first game back from injury be a playoff game will be tough as well.

So now that their top right wing is out for a while, it might force the hand of Dean Lombardi. It was already known he was looking for a forward and a defenseman, but now he might have to look at some bigger fish. Loui Eriksson or Jiri Hudler could be great adds for the Kings but what will the price be. If they prefer not to dip too deep, someone like Dale Weise could add some depth as a guy who is known to chip in during the playoffs.

One thing for sure is that the loss of Gaborik isn't good, but at least there is time to bring in some guys who can replace him till he is back and add to the depth while we watch the Kings make a run at the Stanley Cup.
