When Gordie Howe passed away two months ago, the entire hockey world stood still in sorrow.
According to The Canadian Press, his family will commemorate his passing by interring the late hockey legend along with his late wife Colleen’s ashes in the statue erected outside of the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.
The city is in the process of applying for a special permit in order for the statue of Howe to be considered an official cemetery, and Saskatoon official Catherine Gryba assured:
“… (their ashes) will be encased in a special concrete vessel with a commemorative plaque on top to protect them.”
Mr. Hockey left the world at the age of 88 on June 10th, and left behind a legacy with 1,850 points in 1,767 career games.
