Dougie Hamilton takes out Hurricanes trainer with shot “below the belt”

In case you missed it Sunday evening, the Carolina Hurricanes continued their hot start to the 2019-20 season with an exciting 4-3 OT win over the Tampa Bay Lightning .

Jaccob Slavin scored the OT winner, while Dougie Hamilton, Brett Pesce and Erik Haula also scored for the Hurricanes who held the high-powered Lightning offence to just 10 shots through the final 40 minutes.

After the game Hamilton was interviewed on the team’s bench in front of a raucous home crowd who chanted his name throughout the entire interview. In fact, Hamilton had to take a moment just to drink it all in before thanking the fans for their support.

Check it out:

How cool is that? Dougie has had some serious up and downs throughout his career and the fan support hasn’t always been there, but it’s clear that the fans love him in Carolina.

As for the training staff? Well, that might be another question. Check out Hamilton throwing out an absolute low blow to Hurricanes trainer Patrick Budds:

That’s gotta hurt… and just to be clear, Budds did confirm that Hamilton bagged him.

Low blow, Dougie. That’s a LITERAL low blow… not cool, bro.
