Team USA wasn't even on the ice on Monday but they were forced to sit back and watch their nightmare scenario unfold before their eyes, a Team Europe victory over Team Czech that put them on the brink of elimination from the tournament without ever making it past the preliminary rounds.
It was a close back and forth game that eventually required overtime to determine a winner, and it was Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl who was the hero, beating the Czech Republic with a breakaway goal on which he showed no hesitation.
It's a devasting blow to Team USA's hopes in the tournament as they will now need to beat Canada and the Czech Republic in order to advance in the tournament, not an easy feat by any stretch of the imagination.
