Dreger confirms final 5 teams in the race for Alex Kerfoot.

One of the big developments in and around the National Hockey League over the past two weeks has been the free agency of 23-year-old center Alex Kerfoot, a former New Jersey Devils draft pick in 2012.

Since making it clear that he would not be signing with the Devils, Kerfoot has received offers from a number of NHL organizations but now the list of potential contenders for his services has been narrowed down to five.

According to a report from TSN insider Darren Dreger, the New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks and perhaps most surprisingly the Colorado Avalanche make up the final 5 contenders.

The decision from Kerfoot is expected to be made sometime within the next 24 hours, and that means one of these five teams is about to upgrade at the center position very shortly.
