Matt Duchene on the move is something we've heard twice in the past two season.

In November 2017, the veteran forward headed to the Ottawa Senators as part of a massive three-way deal that saw the Nashville Predators land Kyle Turris and the Colorado Avalanche net picks and prospects.

He moved again this year when the Senators shipped him out to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a trade deadline deal.

However, it seems like the Predators would have wanted it otherwise and are now working on a plan to get Duchene in the summer, which means they could be their turn to trade Turris.

According to Preds insider Adam Vingan of The Athletic, Turris' future in Music City is in jeopardy and the Predators could choose to move him in order to make room on the cap space for Duchene, who could test the free agency market this summer.

Turris, who’s in the first season of a six-year, $36 million contract, is struggling this season and he’s seeing reduced playing time, while Duchene keeps thriving and was the main target the Predators were after at the deadline. This could be their chance to have him back.

And it's no secret that Duchene would love to become part of the Predators. Here is what he had to say about the game in Nashville, where the Blue Jackets won 5-2 on Saturday.

“It’s great,” Duchene told Vingan's colleague Aaron Portzline, addressing the fan support at Bridgestone Arena. “It was fun to see all the fans make the trip down. It’s not a hard sell to make a trip to Nashville for them, but it’s great to see the support we had. They were loud.”

The Predators could easily convince Duchene to join them, however with their salary-cap situation about to get tight, it would mean that Turris would have to be moved. He could be a prime candidate for a cost-cutting move but his poor play this season and expensive contract might make it hard on GM David Poile to find a trade partner.

"It’s a risk. But if Duchene represents a clear upgrade over Turris, it might be worth it," concludes Vingan.

It would be the first time Duchene and Turris are discussed together in order for the Predators to get what they want. Let's see if they can pull it off...
