Clearly, the Anaheim Ducks weren’t about to let Randy Carlyle get away from them again. With the Ducks’ head coach contract set to expire at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season, team management has extended his agreement through 2018-19 and added an club option for 2019-20.

The deal was announced late last week and it ensures that the team will have stability behind the bench as they continue to push for a second Stanley Cup championship. Carlyle, of course, was behind the bench when the Ducks claimed their first championship in 2007 and guided them back to within two wins of another Stanley Cup Final appearance this postseason.

The team also announced the return of assistant coaches Trent Yawney and Rich Preston, but former assistant coach and Ottawa Senators head coach Paul MacLean has left the organization to pursue other opportunities.
