Ducks player admits Expansion Draft, “could be weird.”

Anaheim Ducks veteran Andrew Cogliano freely admits that he has no idea what his future holds. While the 29 year-old still has one season remaining on his 4 year, $12 million contract, the upcoming NHL Expansion Draft may pose a risk to his future in Orange County.

While discussing the possibility of being left exposed and selected by the Vegas Golden Knights later this month, Cogliano admitted to Orange County Register reporter Eric Stephens that he has not had any discussions with team management about the scenario. “It could be weird,” Cogliano said. “I haven’t talked to Bob and I don’t think he’s said anything on that. It’s just too early in the process and I don’t know how it’s going to work in terms of what if you don’t find out, what if you don’t.”

During his seven seasons in Anaheim, Cogliano has provided the Ducks with depth and stability at the center ice position. Amazingly, the NHL’s current ironman has never missed a game in his career. The veteran has suited up for 786 consecutive games without missing a beat. There’s no doubt that he’ll be ready for game 787 in October, but whether he suits up for the Ducks or another team still remains to be seen.
