It's not just about the star players.

Ducks signed two depth players today.
Keystone press agency

With the Price contract extended and the huge Marleau move to Toronto, the news was overloaded with numbers and reactions. The two stars are obviously newsworthy and all the attention is deserved, especially on an otherwise slow news Sunday.

However, the Ducks made a small roster move today by signing two depth players in Steve Oleksy to a two-years contract and Derek Grant to a one-year contract.

We reported on Oleksy possibly signing yesterday, and it's now a done deal. Arguably not the most offensive oriented guy in the roster, he will add a lot of grit and possibly knuckles to the lineup.

Grant is a 6'3'', 202 lbs centerman who's played 86 games in total, earning 7 points along the way. He has some good stats during his multiple stays in the AHL, but it seems the 27 years old didn't learn how to transpose his game to the big show. Maybe the Ducks will give him the right opportunity to develop his game the right way.

Welcome to Anaheim guys!
