It has been quite the turn of events in Winnipeg in the past week, which now makes every Jets fan overanalyze everything that is currently taking place.

On Wednesday morning a bomb was dropped when it was announced that  defenseman Dustin Byfuglien is now pondering his NHL future as he took a leave of absence from the club since the start of camp.

Byfuglien is said to be weighing his options at the moment and remains without a timetable for a decision. The veteran player is believed to “have lost his love for the game.”

And of course the story does not end there… On Thursday night, multimedia journalist Jeff Hamilton, who covers the Blue Bombers and Jets, revealed that Byfuglien was spotted in a pub during his leave of absence and reportedly told fans who wanted a picture with him that he will play this season.

The women posted the pictures on Instagram and informed Hamilton that Big Buff made the comments that he would be playing this year.

We don’t know if we should believe these girls and what Byfuglien might have told them to get the situation levelled… As Hamilton says, do with it what you will.

The veteran player has dealt with more injuries in the past few seasons, he who had four goals and 27 assists in just 42 games last season. Byfuglien, who was selected in the eighth round by the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2003, is a veteran of 869 career NHL games and has 177 goals and 525 points in his career.

He is signed through next season at a cap hit of $7.6 million.
