EA Sports announces NHL 18 cover athlete

Connor McDavid had quite a night in Las Vegas last night. Not only did he claim the Art Ross Trophy, the Ted Lindsay Award and the Hart Memorial Trophy, but he was also named the cover athlete for EA Sports’ NHL 18 video game.

The announcement was made live on stage as part of the NHL Awards in Las Vegas and McDavid was there to comment on the honor saying, “Representing NHL 18 as the cover athlete is an incredible honour. I’ve played EA Sports NHL every year since I was kid. To appear on the cover, something that has been done previously by so many players that I respect and admire, is very exciting. I can’t wait to play NHL 18.”

The game will be released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One on September 15th, but you can get a sneak preview of the action with the game’s first official gameplay trailer below:
