The Edmonton Oilers have signed defensemen Dillon Simpson to a one-year contract.

The two-way contract will earn Simpson $650,000 if he makes the NHL team but only $90,000 if he ends up playing in the AHL with the Oilers affiliated club;  the Bakersfield Condors

Last year with the Condors, Simpson scored 3 goals and amassed 11 points over 53 games. The Edmonton native dressed for three NHL games with the Oilers in which he was pointless.

A fourth-round pick in the 2011 draft, Simpson played 181 AHL games, netting 10 goals and adding 38 assists.

He will have a chance to crack up the Oilers roster when training camps starts.
