It's sounds like the New York Islanders have already made up their mind.

According to a report from Arthur Staple of Newsday the Islanders have not made an offer or held any negotiations with their elite winger, Kyle Okposo, and the belief is that no such offer will be made.

From Staple's report:

Garth Snow’s team will look different next season for sure, even if the Isles general manager doesn’t add a single player from outside. Kyle Okposo and Matt Martin are headed for free agency on July 1 and contracts elsewhere. Sources indicate that there have been no talks between either player’s agent and the Isles since the season ended.

Okposo would be one of the most valuable players on the market, and one would imagine that ever single team with the cap space to present him an offer would do so once he becomes available. Okposo is coming off a 64 point season, a feat he accomplished in just 79 games this season, although how much credit for his performance should go to John Tavares is likely the biggest question on the minds of NHL general managers.

At just 28 years old Okposo will be looking for a long term deal so it will take a major commitment in both dollars and term of contract to get him signed.
