Here we go again…

On Monday, Don Cherry was fired by Sportsnet and Rogers for making offensive comments about Canadian immigrants. Cherry was fired on Remembrance Day, which honors Canada’s veterans, after he said: “You people … you love our way of life, love our milk and honey. At least you could pay a couple of bucks for poppies or something like that. These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada.”

When he was first reached to comment on his dismissal, Grapes made it clear he knew what he said and that the meant it. On Tuesday, Cherry maintained that he does not regret the things he said Saturday night on Coach’s Corner, but he just wishes he phrased his thoughts differently.

Several fans were quick to defend the star host, even going as far as signing a petition to get him back on the air as soon as possible.

However on Wednesday, these same fans were supposed to meet in front of the Sportsnet offices to show their discontent with Cherry’s dismissal, but the turnout was quite embarrassing…

Here is a picture posted on Reddit from the event:

Maybe these same fans forgot that it gets freaking cold in Toronto at this time a year.

We will have to see if more people turn out later on in the day once they are done at the office.
