There is a feel good story in Boston but unfortunately it comes wrapped in the expectation of some bad news to follow.

The story broke today when according to a report in the early hours of the morning from Mark Driver, a Providence Bruins insider, there were signs early in the day that veteran forward Lee Stempniak would be called up to the Boston Bruins main roster. It was not long before Driver's suspicions were proven to be correct as the Bruins would go on to officially announce that Lee Stempniak was in fact being called up for what is expected to be his very first game at the National Hockey League level for the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season.

It has to be an incredibly validating moment for Stempniak himself and it has to be a great example for the Bruins to flaunt in front of their players as an example of the benefits of hard work. In spite of the fact that he did not have an NHL contract for the entirety of the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season up until not Stempniak  continued to work out with the Bruins day in and day out in the hopes that an opportunity would eventually present itself for him. Stempniak's hard work would eventually pay off as the Bruin would eventually extend him a contract offer for this season just prior to the NHL's trade deadline and additionally now it appears that he will get to strut his stuff at the NHL level.

Of course the opportunity for Stempniak is nothing short of wonderful and it is near impossible to not be happy for the veteran who worked his butt off to get one last taste of NHL action, but unfortunately his opportunity has of course come at the expense of another Bruins player. Although there has been no official announcement regarding the Bruins' main roster there is now an expectation that the call up of Stempniak points to a lingering injury on the current roster.

Although it is purely speculation at this time Boston Bruins insider Joe Haggerty indicated that he believes forward Jake DeBrusk will be out of the line up tonight due to his ongoing foot injury, with Stempniak stepping in to fill his spot.

"Bruins recalling Lee Stempniak on an emergency basis from Providence Bruins," wrote Haggerty. "That would seem to be a pretty good indicator that Jake DeBrusk (foot) wont be able to go again tonight"
