A familiar face could be seen today at the 2nd annual Celebrity Pro-Am of the Syncrude Oil Country Championship, it was none other than hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. These types of events always bring lots of insights into the upcoming season's Oilers, but this time Gretzky, who is now a member of the organization's front office, preferred to deliver what some may perceive as a heart-felt message.

In an exchange with 630 CHED's Bob Stauffer, number "99" took the time to commend the Oilers' young players: "It's entertaining hockey. We have a good group of kids. There are no bad apples."

After 21 seasons in the NHL and countless records, some of which are highly unlikely to ever be broken, there is simply no bigger name in the world of hockey than Wayne Gretzky. Henceforth, when 'The Great One' hands you a compliment, you would do well to cherish it preciously. Something the Edmonton Oilers should keep in mind heading into next season, after being eliminated from cup-contention earlier than originally anticipated.
