With the Senators ahead 3-1 in their series with the Bruins, the mood in Ottawa is cautiously confident. You'll hear a lot of ''Long way to go'' and ''We need to work as a team'' in the public declarations and it shouldn't surprise anyone.

However, owner Eugene Melnyk doesn't really care about political correctness and he showed his straight talk once more today with these declarations.

This one is kind of surprising. The team's management didn't think Karlsson was ready to lead the team back in 2014. Of course, he was only 24 at the time and was called to fill the immense shoes of his predecessor Daniel Alfredsson. Needless to say, the decision turned out great for both the team and Karlsson himself.

Bobby Ryan is playing stellar hockey since the beginning of the series and it will shut down a lot of critics. Plagued with injuries in the past, his status was far from being clear entering the Playoffs. However, with his health back on track and a clear show of confidence, we can expect the best out of Ryan, as Melnyk attests.

This one is the most surprising. Melnyk is absolutely right in his assessment of his team's style, but rarely will you hear a team owner say his team is boring! A breath of fresh air in a world of perfect public relation spins.
