Kane not mincing words.

Notorious Boston Bruins announcer Jack Edwards has become infamous across the National Hockey League both for being one of the most blatant homers in the league when it comes to his love of the Boston Bruins and also for his often controversial takes on the happenings in the league. That's why when Edwards gives one of his controversial takes there are usually far less repercussions for him, he has after all cultivated the image he has built for himself.

That tends to be the case for Edwards but for some reason his most recent take regarding an incident that happened during Game 3 between the aforementioned Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday has resulted in a ton of backlash against Edwards. We covered the reaction from fans, pundits, and even the Carolina Hurricanes themselves in an article on Saturday but now we even have players from the National Hockey League chiming in, although admittedly it is not a player currently participating in the NHL's return to play.

Just to give you a quick reminder, or for those who haven't seen it, here's the take has resulted in backlash for Edwards:

"What NBC hasn’t shown yet, regarding the unfortunate injury to Svechnikov: the Carolina wing playing hobby-horse, riding Chara on the back apron of the goal," said Edwards. "You poke the bear, you take your chances. No one wanted to see Svechnikov hurt, but he bit off more than he could chew."

The problems here were that it was Aho and not Svechnikov that "poked the bear" and the second was that many took these words as Edwards essentially saying that Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov deserved the injury he had sustained. I don't think Edwards meant it that way, at least I hope he didn't, but others have chosen to be very uncharitable in their interpretation of his words. Perhaps no one was harsher on Edwards though than San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane who on Sunday unloaded on Edwards.

"The most bias homer and classless annocouncer in sports," wrote Kane. Thanks for the reminder"

I will add I do think it is a bit rich for Kane to call someone out for saying some mean words given his own checkered history, but he is entitled to have his opinion.
