Ex-Leaf Joe Thornton tallies first exhibition goal for Panthers

The Toronto Maple Leafs made the decision not to retain the services of 42 year old center Joe Thornton, whom they had broad aboard last year in an attempt to bring the Stanley Cup back to Ontario for the first time since 1967. 

He's now a member of the young and upstart Florida Panthers, where he'll be serving as a valuable mentor for a team on the upswing. And he's collected his first goal of the preseason, banging home a rebound tonight against the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning:
