We all love Eddie Olczyk. It's quite easy to. On top of all of what he was able to accomplish during his 16-year career in the National Hockey League, Olczyk inspired so many people last year after he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. He underwent surgery to remove a tumor the size of his fist, then endured a trying six-month regimen of chemotherapy en route to a full recovery.

"We beat this thing," Olczyk said between periods during the NBC Sports Chicago broadcast of the Chicago Blackhawks' game against the Vancouver Canucks back in March, "and I say 'we' because it was a total team effort."

It could be that the fight with the disease has made him want to come clean about some things, but last night, the former NHL forward admitted that he pulled off an illegal move throughout his entire professional career, per Sportsnet's John Shannon

"Got to love Eddie Olczyk...who admits tonight he used an illegal stick for 16 years in the NHL.

"If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'!"

A member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic hockey team, Olcyzk grew up in the Chicago area, played 16 seasons in the NHL — including two stints with the Hawks — and briefly coached the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also suited up for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and Penguins.

He is now a top TV hockey analyst both locally on Blackhawks telecasts and nationally for NBC Sports and has always been up front and honest in his analysis.

He wanted to do the same with this: you gotta love the man for being honest after all these years!
