The St. Louis Blues may have gotten away with one in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. And fans across the league are simply outraged with the referees on the ice that night…

With under 10 minutes to play in the third period and St. Louis holding a 1-0 lead, Tyler Bozak seemed to trip Bruins forward Noel Acciari in the Boston zone. The play allowed David Perron to pick up the loose puck and beat netminder Tuukka Rask to score the eventual game-winning goal.

Bruins president Cam Neely was furious with the call. To say the least...

It did not take long for fans to react to the miscall that led to the game-winning goal. Even Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy found the right word to describe what took place in the third period.

“It was egregious.”

Cassidy went on to say that the officiating changed in the series ever since Blues head coach Craig Berube complaining about the work of the referees following Game 3 in St. Louis. He believes this is a black eye for the NHL.

He did however add that the Bruins plan of moving on from the miscall.

It remains to be seen if the fans will be able to move on from this terrible mistake by the officials. Some fans needed to get their anger out on social media following the Bruins’ loss.

However, one Blues fan was witty enough to ask if the miscall was a hand pass… The Blues found themselves on the opposite side of a controversial play in Western Conference Final when the San Jose Sharks scored the overtime winner in Game 3 after a hand pass led directly to the winning goal.

The season is almost over. We hope the NHL will take a long look at the officiating and how it needs to be made better during the summer. This is the Stanley Cup final after all…
