The Montreal Canadiens made a controversial decision this summer when they let veteran defenseman Adrei Markov walk away from their time in free agency, and Thursday likely was a sobering dose of reality for many Habs fans.
That's because on Thursday Markov played in his first game of the 2017-2018 season except it wasn't with the Canadiens or in the National Hockey League at all.
Markov signed with the Kontinental Hockey League this summer, and on Thursday fans got their first chance to see Markov in his new gear for Kazan A-Bars.
