With the NHL Entry Draft having come and gone only a few short months ago, discussions are already rampant about next year’s edition.

Sportsnet reports that the 2017 first overall pick should be Nolan Patrick. The 6’3”, 195-lbs center from Winnipeg, Manitoba, posted 41 goals and 102 points in 71 games last season in the WHL. He’s touted to be a complete player, capable of scoring goals and notching assists with an exceptional vision of the ice. When necessary, he can hold his own as a fighter as well.

Patrick is also a proven playoff performer as is evidenced by his 30 points in 21 games last season en route to Memorial Cup and playoff MVP victories with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
