Five potential options for Boston at right wing.

While many believe the primary focus for the Boston Bruins in the offseason should be the strengthening of their defensive group, the team's upper-management has also indicated a desire to secure a replacement at right wing.

Bruins insider Joe Haggerty broke down what he believes are the five best free agent options for the club, and some of the names on this list will certainly surprise quite a few of you.

First on the list, and arguably the least surprising of these options in Islanders defenseman Kyle Okposo. There's no doubt that this would be an ideal long-term solution for Boston, he's a high producing forward who will be looking to sign a lengthy contract, although he won't be coming cheap. Haggerty belies this would be the best fit for Boston, but it doesn't seem likely.

Next up is St. Louis Blues forward Troy Brouwer, who unlike Okposo would have to be view as a short term option. While this is certainly a much less sexy signing Haggerty believes he could be a significant contributor in the short-term much the way Matt Beleskey was for Boston this season. Haggerty believes this is the most likely of the five options.

We won't spend much time on the third name on the list, while it would certainly be the most exciting result, there's little to no chance the Bruins sign superstar forward Steven Stamkos and Haggerty admits as much while still making the suggestion.

The fourth name on the list has to be the juciest of the rumored options, none other than former Montreal Canadiens forward Dale Weiss. Obviously the implications here are obvious, a former bitter rival joining the ranks of the enemy could make for a very interesting story line when the Bruins face off against the Canadiens. While Weiss is a decent producer in the regular season, he has demonstrated a knack for coming up big in key games.

The last name on the list actually isn't a free agent at all, but Haggerty added him to the list because of the long rumored trade talks between Anaheim and the Bruins over the course of last season. That name belongs to Jakob Silfverberg of the Anaheim Ducks, but as attractive of an option as he would be, Haggerty isn't certain the Bruins have the assets to make the move after their deadline decisions this year.
