The Calgary Flames have secured a very solid assistant coach to back up newly hired head coach Glen Gulutzan.

According to multiple reports the Calgary Flames have hired head coach Dave Cameron on Wednesday, rounding out their new coaching staff for next season. Cameron was most recently head coach of the Ottawa Senators after he took over that role from Paul MacLean, but was terminated at the end of the season when the Senators opted to go in a different direction.

This hire comes as little surprise, Cameron was reportedly spotted at the Flames development camp and many believed it was only a matter of time before the announcement was made official.

No word on how much Cameron will earn behind the Flames bench as an assistant.
