In case you missed it yesterday, a Calgary woman went viral on social media after she shared an incredible story from her experience at Walmart. Ashley Martin had $430 worth of groceries in her cart while in the checkout line when she was approached by a stranger who claimed that she would pay for Martin’s groceries on behalf of Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano.

Check it out:

How awesome is that!?!?

Ever humble though, Giordano credits his wife Lauren for the initiative.

“My wife has been online and there are a lot of different groups on Facebook. She is very involved and we are very eager to help. It’s been really rewarding,” Giordano told CBC Calgary News.

“There have been a lot of families reaching out to this group, asking for certain needs like groceries. We are extremely happy to help and want to help as many families as we can. It has been very touching to see some of the stories.”

Well done, Lauren and Mark. Well done.

As for the ice, Mark just wants to get back to work. The Flames were surging when the NHL officially went on pause and their captain is hopeful the season can resume, regardless of format.

“I just want to get back and play,” he said.

“We are not really too worried about the format. We are all going to be in the same boat. Looking forward to somehow getting a few games in and maybe a playoff format going, but we will see how it all shakes out here.”
