It seems so easy to hate Boston Bruins gritty forward and pest Brad Marchand. Feels like it's a prerequisite for being a true National Hockey League fan, unless you root for the Bruins themselves...

So, despite the fact that the Bruins and the Calgary Flames do not appear to be long-term rivals, it is just easy to get on board and chirp the master chirper Marchand, especially when both teams are facing one another at the Scotia Bank Saddledome. The two teams battled on Wednesday night and one fan came prepared with one of the best sign of the season yet.

It is a well-know fact that Marchand has earned quite the reputation throughout the NHL in recent years, especially since he was caught licking his opponents right in the face last season, and during the second round of the playoffs when he went ahead and licked Tampa Bay Lightning veteran forward Ryan Callahan.

And so it was only fitting that one Flames fan brought a giant Marchand head cut out to the game and went around pretending to lick fans in the concourse with his arm in a sleeve that looks like a massive tongue. People around him were eating it up:

Even the ones that got "licked" by the giant cut out thought it was hilarious since Marchand made the headlines last year with his antics. It was time to remind him how stupid it was and this fan found the best way possible.

It sure seemed to inspired the Flames, who managed to beat the Bruins by the final score of 5-2. Johnny Gaudreau scored his 100th NHL goal, and Michael Frolik tallied two goals to help Calgary come out on top. Juuso Valimaki and Matthew Tkachuk scored, and Mike Smith made 24 saves for the Flames, who have won four of five.

Of course, we need to mention that the fan with the giant cut out gets all the points for his creativity!

For now, we hope the sign will keep cheering Flames fans up as there is an uncertainty of the status of Gaudreau, following the game. A spotter determined Gaudreau had to leave the contest for evaluation under NHL concussion protocol after he was hit by Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy in the third period. Gaudreau did not return and there was no update postgame.

In the meantime, let's all keep laughing at this perfect sign!
