One of the main focuses for the Calgary Flames at this stage of the offseason are the ongoing contract negotiations with restricted free-agent center Sam Bennett.

Despite that focus the Flames thus far have been unable to get a deal done with their former fourth overall pick in the 2014 National Hockey League draft, and that has raised some concerns among the Flames fan base.

However in a recent interview with Flames reporter Eric Francis, Flames general manager Brad Treliving dismissed those concerns, and seemed very confident indeed.

“We’re going to get Sam signed,” said Treliving as per the Calgary Herald.

“Every contract is unique and takes it’s own course. We’re working away at it and we think Sam is going to be a good player in this organization for a long time. He’s growing and I know he’s had a good summer. We’ll keep banging away at it.”

Treliving did not set a time frame for when he expects the deal to get done, however it seems extremely unlikely that they won't lock up the talented 21-year-old before the start of the NHL regular season.
