Flames GM responds concerns surrounding coaching search.

The Calgary Flames are getting close to the National Hockey League Entry Draft and they still don't have a head coach, and for some that was a cause for concern. On Monday Flames general manager Brad Treliving attempted to alleviate some of those concerns in a telling interview with Sportsnet's 960 in CalgarySportsnet's 960 in Calgary.

"That's coming to a conclusion here rather quickly," Trevling said of the coaching search. "So we're hopeful to have that buttoned down fairly soon."

When asked if he would have a coach by the time the draft rolled around Treliving answered bluntly, stating that while he would have a new coach by that point, that the coach would not influence decision made by the existing management staff at the draft.

"We will, and in saying that I know there is always a lot of talk where you have a coach by the draft, but the coach and you(960's Boomer & Pinder) have about the same responsibilities at the draft."

"There is very little the coach will do in the draft."

Earlier today rumors surfaced suggesting there were only three names remaining on the Flames' list of candidates
