Flames GM Treliving calls himself horsesh*t amidst losing streak

Everyone on the Calgary Flames’ roster and staff is feeling the heat. No pun intended.

The Flames held a players-only meeting on Thursday night following another brutal loss, this time at the hands of the St. Louis Blues who shut them down in a 5-0 win.

When asked about the meeting in which he wasn’t invited, head coach Bill Peters talked about the emotions rather than the meaning behind what might have taken place in that room.

“We were frustrated obviously and you can see that and you can tell by the fact the guys had a little meeting after the game that you’re well aware of,” Peters said. "Frustration would be the right word. We’ve got to stay together and work our way through it.”

When media had a chance to talk with Flames general manager Brad Treliving about the ongoing slump, the GM did not hold back and put a lot of blame on himself.

He said everyone needs to be accountable for struggles.

It starts with the manager. The manager has been horseshit.”

That’s quite a blunt and powerful assessment of his own work at the helm of the team. We bet he feels like he is also on the hot seat and might feel pressured to make a significant move to help his team. However, Treliving made sure to give his vote of confidence to Peters and also mentioned that the team's "top players aren’t going anywhere.”

The Flames will face the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday and we will see then if the meeting brought something out of the players.

It has gotten to Treliving and his job security in the meantime…
