The Calgary Flames and the San Jose Sharks were involved in a high scoring affair last night, and unfortunately, the Flames came out on the wrong size.

Despite the loss, they were some good things from the game. Michael Ferland who was filling for injured Jiri Hudler scored a goal and an assist skating on the top line, Sam Bennet scored his first goal in 18 games and the Flames' power play was 3 for 4.

Despite everything, the Flames couldn't held off the Sharks who seemed to click lately offensively. Brent Burns and Joe Thornton scored a goal and an assist each and powered the Sharks' offense.

Matt Stajan was particularly vocal after the team's 4th lost in their last 5 games against Pacific opponent:

"There's no secret how big these games are. One of the reasons we were successful last season is we won the divisional games. That's why we made the playoffs. We don't have a good record against your own division, and it makes it that much harder to get there. We have half a season here, but these are games we have to find ways to win, otherwise you're not going to get to the playoffs, that's just the way it is."

The Flames will have a chance to get back in the win column went they play the Florida Panthers at home on Wednesday.
