Flames make another coaching change

When Bill Peters handed in his resignation letter last Friday as head coach of the Calgary Flames, assistant coach Geoff Ward was promoted to the top spot and became the new interim head coach. 

It was the right call, but many wonder if he would be able to get the Flames back on track after the racism scandal and the entire league looking at their dressing room. 

Well, the Flames are doing well under Ward, currently riding a three-game winning streak and it might be why the organization is looking to build off that. 

On Friday, the Flames announced that director of player personnel Ray Edwards has joined  Ward’s staff as an assistant coach.

Edwards, who join Calgary  in a player development role at the start of the 2015-16 season, has great coaching experience. 

He was a head coach in the AHL for six seasons in Portland and San Antonio. 

The Flames’ coaching staff is now made of Ward, assistant coaches Ryan Huska, Martin Gelinas, Edwards and Jamie Pringle (video) along with goaltending coach Jordan Sigalet.
